Over 7 years ago I decided to start a REAL fitness journey towards finally creating a healthier lifestyle for myself and my family. I was 14 months postpartum with my first child and experiencing something called Postpartum Thyroiditis...
Talk about a whirlwind.
From:
- dizzy spells
- heart palpitations
- joint pain
- constant headaches
- lack of being able to fall asleep
- zero energy or motivation
my body was going nuts and I had no idea what was happening. I honestly chalked it up to all those "new mommy feels".
At one point I actually told myself, SUCK IT UP KATE this is just what happens! A few doctors appointments and a thyroid uptake scan later, I found out my thyroid was seriously unhappy (and that I wasn't crazy). Then the doc informed me that there is a slight possibility that once your thyroid calms down you may develop something called Hypothyroidism and a small percent of women develop the Autoimmune response called Hashimoto's Disease. I landed in that small percent. I officially added Hashimoto's to my list of other health issues (IBS & PCOS).
I remember sitting down on my couch holding a bag of my all time favorite Lays Classic Potato chips and realizing... Enough. I decided it was time to lace up my sneaks, throw away all the sweets and make a serious lifestyle change. My health needed to be a priority. I was a Mom and I needed to step up.
Now, I have been paying my experience FORWARD as a coach and helping so many other women and men figure it out too. This incredible opportunity has become a real passion project and a true love.
My goal here with this site is to blog and share with you some of the delicious healthy recipes we love, workout tips, and so much more!
